Chartwell Press is Launched
December 1, 2015
Book publisher Chartwell Press, LLC, just launched its website. Founded by author and editor Christine Silk, the mission of Chartwell Press is to publish books with timeless appeal for a discriminating audience – books that will be relevant decades from now.
Ms. Silk explains: “Unlike some other publishing houses, we do not chase the winds of fashion or worry about ‘what’s trending now.’ We seek to produce high-quality books that readers will want to keep on their shelves and return to through the years, like old friends.”
The publishing house is named after the British Prime Minister’s home, Chartwell, in the English county of Kent, about an hour outside of London.
“I’ve been a longtime Churchill fan,” Ms. Silk explains, “not only for what he did for the free world in World War II, but also because he was a brilliant speaker, and a brilliant writer. He had an preternatural feel for language. He knew how to use words to inspire people across all classes and backgrounds. He didn’t brandish hollow rhetorical flourishes – he offered real, enduring substance, and he had a prophetic vision that is relevant today. A lot of writers – including me – would be ecstatic to master the English language as well as he did. That is why, when it came to picking a name for my publishing house, Chartwell was an obvious choice.”
Chartwell Press debuts its launch by offering Ms. Silk’s collection of short stories, Chase the Sun: Nine Short Stories of Passion, Betrayal, and Revenge, which is due out January 1, 2016. Orders can be placed through Amazon.
